LATEST NEWS:
• Fastfell is the first company in South African that has the capability to process tree-stumps with the use of a stump shear (to view click here). Up till now it has been difficult and costly to dispose of tree stumps, firstly from an environmental point of view (i.e. filling up landfill sites, with its associated toxic build-up, rather than producing favorable organic material to green the environment) and secondly from a practical point of view - some stumps are just too large to legally transport.
The sheared stumps are fed into our Bandit horizontal grinder ("The Beast") with our Bell Loggers at a rate of to 80m³ to 100m³ per hour, transforming expensive waste into a valuable commodity.
• On a smaller scale, Fastfell offers hand-fed chippers to take care of smaller organic / tree-waste, giving rise to organic chipped mulch- material.
• Of interest to site clearing contractors in the Cape:
- It currently costs R254 / ton to dispose of unprocessed green waste, excluding the cost of loading, transporting and the valuable time to do so.
- It makes perfect financial sense, that organic waste from the existing site is processed on the site for future greening of the immediate area. Currently most developers are paying for transporting potential mulch and compost off-site, only to pay the carting contractors to again return the same once they are ready to green the area. One must think seriously of the carbon foot-print and wastage of the above-mentioned….the environment can no longer sustain itself and needs "green" thinkers to push for the obvious.
